Saturday 7th October 2023 saw the return of the Red Special Guitar Meet-Up in Reading.
Hosted by Jon Underhill of the Red Special Guitar podcast and his band of helpers, over 70 attendees were welcomed to the hall. These attendees were made up from 14 different countries across the globe.
The room was full of all sort of Red Special Guitars from home builds to commercial copies. We counted 56 guitars in total.
Attendees were treated to:
– Hearing demos of new Amplifiers made by Brian’s own Amp and Electronic GURU Nigel Knight of Knight Audio Technologies (KAT) www.deacyamp.com
– Numerous interviews and talks with legendary Red Special Luthier for 20 years – Andrew Guyton of Guyton Guitars www.guytonguitars.com whose 20th anniversary was celebrated with a cake and messages from the community.
– An interview with Simon Bradley who co-wrote the “Red Special” book with Brian
– and then a raffle, which raised a staggering £2300 for Brian May’s Save Me.
– We then kicked off the band section, with star of the show 9 year old Josh Cottrill playing the drums and stealing the show.
