Stereo portrait

Great stereo portrait by - not many artists ever attempt this - to DRAW a working stereo pair - and even less pull it off, because of the accuracy demanded - to make a portrait in 3 dimensions instead of 2. Salvador Dali got deeply into it ! But few have followed ! Well done !!

Wow ! Wanna see a whole total eclipse of the Moon event in 20 seconds ? This is so beautifully done by Colin Legg.

31 Jan 2018 Total Lunar Eclipse animation 2 months ago - by Colin Legg

Notice how when the Moon is darkest red you can see it slowly drifting West to East against the star background. How cool is this ? This is actually a work of art/science ! Colin has expertly adjusted the exposure as the Moon is more and more shadowed (by the Earth) so that's why the stars 'come out' during totality. The Moon becomes this blood red colour because, if you were standing on the Moon at this moment, you would see the Earth in a dark sky, with its whole circumference lit up by sunsets - the Sun's light seen through layers of our atmosphere. I wanna do that some day !!! Credit: Colin Legg.

Smells like Teen Spirit ! Couldn't resist sharing this clip. Brilliant in so many ways !!! @musical.nation evidently rock !!! Hope you guys don't mind me reposting you.

In case anyone was wondering where I was this weekend ... here we are at the very picturesque nuptials of Felix Taylor (eldest son of Rog) and his bride Jo. And yes - I did get up with the boys and girls to play on a couple of songs - Rock 'n' Roll, Twist and Shout, and All Right Now, as I remember ! Splendid fun !

Just thought I'd repost this from QOL because I'm a little sad this game never [got] to as many people as it deserves. This was a labour of love for me - and anyone who plays it will get a glimpse into the road we've travelled over the years. In the details of this special version, it becomes hopefully more about the pursuit of excellence than the pursuit of money ! And I'm proud of all the Queen themed playing tokens and staging blocks and full productions (instead of houses and hotels) etc. I really hope it gives pleasure out there.

Zooming in, in stereo, on that new 3-D view of Asteroid Ryugu. Thanks JAXA and Hyabusa2 and Patrick Michel for this amazing opportunity. See Hayabusa@JAXA website for updates.

Ryugu zoom

And zooming in even further ! RYUGU rocks ! Check Hayabusa@JAXA

Ryugu even closer up

Thanks for the comments, folks. Responding : the whole asteroid is about 1 km across, so this clump of rocks must be about 100 yards across. Nobody yet knows what they are made of, but the Hayabusa scientists are working in that. And they will be sampling the material and bringing back to Earth, so then all will be revealed. You can guess by the circular impact feature in the less-zoomed in picture that we're not looking at a solid rock here - more like an aggregate of pebbles. But right now it's guesswork. The Hayabusa guys are on it !!

New RYUGU STEREO !! Hayabusa's probe is now only 6km from the asteroid. THANKS guys for giving me this pair to play with !! Enjoy, folks ! No human eye has ever seen this before !

New Ryugu stereo

The Asteroid RYUGU. Here's a more OWL-friendly version of my last post. If you save this to your smart-phone, and use the VR KIT version of the OWL stereoscope (with magnetic back plate) this 3-D pair will leap out nicely ! Alternatively free view this or use a LITE OWL ! For more info on how to acquire these instruments and see more 3-D - please see our website. For more details on Ryugu, see Hayabusa@JAXA.

TONIGHT !! See if you can see the Moon looking like this ! It's a Total Lunar Eclipse, usually making the Moon a dim blood red. If you have clear skies tonight, position yourself in a place that has a clear South Eastern horizon, and watch the moon rise around 9 PM (in the UK). It will already be eclipsed, as it rises, so it ought to be a splendid sight if you are not obstructed by clouds. Good luck !! If you are not in the UK, and the moon is already up, have a look right now! This photograph was taken at another total eclipse a few months ago by my friend Jamie Cooper.  His NEW IG account is @Jamiecooperphotography - please visit him !

Postscript :  No joy here in Kensington on the night. Dammit !  I'm glad some of you got a good view though !  Send us some pics !! On Twitter ? Bri
