An inverted rainbow ? Yes ! A smile in the sky !!!
OK ! I'm asking for help here ! In all my 69 years I never saw a 'rainbow' like this. The Sun was below and to the left in this photo - taken yesterday about an hour and a half before sunset. The centre of this arc is nowhere near either the Sun (as in a halo) or the anti solar point (as in a rainbow) I'll have to check but I'd say its centre was around 90 degrees from either. What is it ? An ice bow ? It curves the wrong way for a sundog. But what's the mechanism ?
The birds are still singing, the sky is blue, as the Sun sets, but England is rotten to the core. I don’t know if this is going to work. I don’t know if Instagram is going to be a way that I can speak and get you folks as I just want to tell you this is an opportunity if you’re coming up and you’re young and you have the chance to vote for the first time, grab it with both hands. You can be excited about being able to drive a car or have sex or whatever, but be excited about the fact that you can take part in fashioning the future of this country and you can shake this country to its core.
We are in desperate, desperate need of a new order. We’re in need of getting rid of this ruling class who think they are born to rule us. Get them out. Anything is better than Theresa May getting back in with a large majority and being able to act like a dictator.
Register to vote and then let’s get to it.
We can't tell you how to vote. But over the next couple of weeks we can sure offer you some advice. We believe there are decent candidates in all political parties in Britain. But sadly the wrong kind get into power. Theresa May is the wrong kind of Conservative. Dangerous, duplicitous, ruthlessly ambitious, and without a shred of compassion. For the sake of Common Decency she must be called to task, not least for calling an election for purely selfish motives. Like Cameron, in her arrogance and self delusion, she must be shown the door. Let's start talking about a landslide in the opposite direction to the one she has gambled on.

Yes ! You're right ! It's the one and only Sir Patrick Moore. Here seen as a young man, observing with his telescope. He inspired thousands of kids like me to take up astronomy - presenting his fabulous programme ' The Sky at Night' for over 50 years - a world record. Why am I posting this picture ?
Paying tribute to Sir Patrick Moore - the brilliant Dr John Mason. If Chichester is within your reach - DON'T MISS this illustrated lecture. Dr. Mason is probably the most engaging science speaker you will ever see. I'd be there like a shot but I will be on tour in the USA. But you can go !!!

Many have already contacted me about speculation that a free vote on foxhunting maybe in the Conservative party manifesto. I have no idea if the speculation is true but I wanted to take this opportunity to reassure constituents I have always been, and will continue to be vehemently opposed to foxhunting and would vote against any attempt to repeal the ban #keeptheban
And here’s a NASA radar picture of this rock … which I’ve also put together as a compilation stereo … showing its double-bell shape. Astonishingly close to the shape of Rosetta’s comet, don’t you think ? Well, maybe someone should have hitched a ride on this pebble, since it came so obligingly close to Earth. Actually, a little too close for comfort ….

THANKS brilliant Damian Peach for this superb stereoscopic opportunity - Jupiter and its moon Ganymede (top left) - all I did was transpose so it reads in parallel free viewing or as a stereo card viewable in an OWL stereoscope. Damian now uses a remotely controlled telescope in Child for his planetary studies - amazing quality.
