It’s a nice piece of work – almost as nice as my special sixpence picks ! Well, not to be flippant, I take my hat off to the sculptor. Just to be clear – I didn’t get AWARDED the medal – it’s an issue to raise money for the Queen’s designated charities, and mine was a ‘thank you’ for contributing to the 90th Birthday book.
This is a modern example of ‘bas-relief’ sculpture – with a compressed scale vertical to the surface – exactly how the Diableries sculptors Hennetier and Habert began their Adventures in Hell in the 1860s in France. Check out our Diableries 3-D book at Londonstereo.com !
