A great catch-up with a dear friend. Know who she is ? She’s Belinda Gillett – who, as a child in 1989, won a competition to sing “Who Wants To Live Forever” along with a lad called Ian Meeson. You can still see the video we made on the Queen youtube channel. I had a broken arm in plaster – but we recorded the single for the British Bone Marrow Donor Association – looking for blood tissue type matches to save children with Leukaemia. Seems like another lifetime.
Belinda has been a very successful Mum since then, but also became a damn good musician. She’s spent many a long year gigging up and down the country and quietly recording. She turned down at least one great recording deal along the way. And she’s also a fab teacher! At this moment she is plunging back into her singing career. Watch out !! Check her out – @belindagillettmusic
