THAT ARTEMIS ECLIPSE !! Well, couldn’t let this one go, although I had to do a lot of repairing to make it work. I can’t really offer it as a scientifically rigorous effort ! But the parallax is REAL – and I enjoy the effect of the Moon floating in front of us, way bigger in our field of view than the Sun it is obscuring. As you can see from my schematic (SWIPE !!!), we’re really NOT seeing the Sun’s corona here – it’s all behind the Moon. What we see stretching out is that pearly glow from dust lit up by sunlight — the Zodiacal Light – which gave me a doctorate in Astrophysics !!! The ZL is concentrated around the ecliptic – the line the Sun appears to follow in our sky. My friend Jasminka has created a different version of this view – check out @stereojazz.3d !
