On This Day in Queen History – 11 January

In 1969 – The Art played the West End Ballroom, Coalville, UK.
In 1971 – Queen contacted by a new bass player, Doug Bogie, with whom they rehearsed and played two shows.
In 1985 – Queen played the Barra of Tijuca (Rock In Rio), Rio De Janeiro, Brazil. In 2010 – “Absolute Greatest” officially awarded double platinum for 600,000 copies sold UK. Worldwide sales stood at: 910,000 copies / downloads sold.
In 2011 – The “WE WILL ROCK YOU UK TOUR 2010/2011” final performance at the Palace Theatre in Manchester.
In 2010 – Release of the third set of the “Limited Remastered Heavyweight 180 Gram vinyl albums” with the LPs “The Game”, “Hot Space” and “Made In Heaven” postponed indefinitely.
In 2013 – Brian May and Kerry Ellis in studio recording “The Kissing Me Song”.
In 2013 – Brian May and Roger Taylor wrote personal tributes for Claude Nobs, co-founder and director of Montreux Jazz Festival and longtime friend of the band. The Swiss cultural manager died in Lausanne on January 10, 2013.  READ

In 2013 – The Queen Extravaganza Tour started in Tarrytown, NY Music Hall Theater.
In 2014 – The British physicist and astrophysicist Stephen Hawking visited “WWRY” evening performance, Dominion Theatre, London, as part of his birthday celebrations. Brian wrote on  SOAPBOX

In 2015 – Production stage of UK/Europe Tour 2015 Queen + Adam Lambert was to be transported to first tour city – Newcastle.
In 2016 – Brian May and Roger Taylor both wrote personal obituaries for David Bowie. BRIAN MAY WROTE
In 2016 – On his website, Brian May published his PERSONAL COMMENTARY on the footage of “Under Pressure” with David Bowie at Mountain Studios in Montreux: “How Queen and David Bowie wrote Under Pressure”.

In 2016: In a press release, the publication of the 3-D book “Crinoline: Fashion’s Most Magnificent Disaster” by Brian May and Dennis Pellerin for 16.04.2016was announced – selection of the stereo photographs from the book to be shown at the opening of the exhibition “Undressed: A Brief History of Underwear”, Victoria & Albert Museum, London 16.04.2016. The exhibition ran until 12.03.2017.
In 2023 – Brian May gave his first reaction to the death 10th January, of guitar legend and personal friend, Jeff Beck. “He was the Guv’nor.”
