On This Day in Queen History – 23 August

In 1969 – Ibex played The Octagon Theatre, Bolton, UK, with Freddie Bulsara making his debut live performance in the UK – having met Ibex on 13 August (just 10 days before), had learnt their set and brought in some new songs.

In 1970 – Queen played in the Lecture Theatre at Imperial College, London, UK, attended by ex-1984 member, John Garnham. The gig was promoted by a hand-written ad on the college noticeboard.
In 1980 – Queen played The Civic Centre, Baltimore, Maryland, USA.

In 2004 – Queen released “Greatest Hits – We Will Rock You Edition” (US only) celebrating opening of “We Will Rock You: The Musical” in Las Vegas, includes tracks from forthcoming “Queen On Fire: Live at the Bowl (1982)”.

A Survey of Radial Velocities in the Zodiacal Dust Cloud
In 2007 – Brian May received his doctorate after completing his thesis “A Survey of Radial Velocities In The Zodiacal Dust Cloud“, – and defending his work to his examiners – 36 years after beginning studies for the thesis at an observatory in Tenerife in 1971.

In 2016 – Brian May and animal rights activist Chris Packham recorded a video message for British wildlife. 
In 2019 – Queen +Adam Lambert played live,  Spectrum Center, Charlotte, NC.
