On This Day in Queen History – 28 October

In 1964 – 1984 played St Mary’s Church Hall, Twickenham, UK – Brian May’s first public performance. Band wore army jackets and paid fee of £10 for gig tracks played included ‘Get Out Of My Life Woman’ and ‘Satisfaction ‘
In 1977 – Queen record their sixth BBC Session, Maida Vale Studios, UK.
In 1977 – “News Of The World” album released UK, with adapted 1950s Frank Kelly Freas artwork.

News of the World

 In 1977 – Queen recorded four songs for “John Peel Show” – ‘Spread Your Wing’s, ‘It’s Late’,’ My Melancholy Blue’s and’ We Will Rock You slow/fast’, Maida Vale Studios, London. Broadcast by BBC Radio One 14 November 1977, though still unreleased. “Fat Bottomed Girls” and “Bicycle Race” videos, the latter not used until 2002 Queen “Greatest Video Hits” DVD.
In 1978 – Queen played The Convention Centre, Dallas, Texas, USA.
In 1991 – Greatest Hits II released UK – with Greatest Flix II on VHS and photo book Greatest Pix II.
In 1992 – Brian May appeared on Channel + TV Show in France – played ‘Does Your Chewing Gum Lose It’s Flavour’.
In 1996 – Queen released ‘Too Much Love Will Kill You’ in European EMI territories.
In 1996 – Queen released Champions Of The World on laser disc Pioneer.
In 1998 – “Red Special” Japanese tour mini-album released to promote The Brian May Band tour.

In 1998 – The Brian May Band played the NIA (National Indoor Arena), Birmingham, UK. A surprise in the set – the second number (which had been gone through in the sound check) – “Sail Away Sweet Sister”!!

In 2002 – Queen received Gold and 2x Platinum awards for We Will Rock You DVD US sales.
In 2008 – Queen + Paul Rodgers played the Arena, Budapest, Hungary. Released to download “Tavaszi Szek Vizet Araszt – Live” – this and “We Believe – Live” released for download.

In 2013 – Queen Extravaganza, O2 Academy, Oxford.
In 2014 – Brian May, Denis Pellerin and Paula Fleming present the film “One Night In Hell” at “Diableries Talk” in “The Lydia & Manfred Gorvy Lecture Theatre” at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London.

In 2015 – Brian May donated a signed Red Special to a charity auction for “Missing People”.
In 2016 – The Queen Extravaganza – A Night At The Opera UK Tour 2016 began at The Pavilions, Plymouth.
