**Fri 23 Aug 13** PRESS RELEASE: QUEEN AIDS BENEFIT IN SUPPORT OF THE MERCURY PHOENIX TRUST - THURSDAY 5TH SEPTMBER AT ONE MAYFAIR Direct link
Roger Daltrey, Melanie C, Al Murray and more to celebrate Freddie... Queen AIDS Benefit in support of The Mercury Phoenix Trust - Thursday 5th September at One Mayfair “Freddie was a unique talent... A one off!” Roger Daltery “He is the greatest performer of all time” Melanie C As one of the definitive rock icons of our age, the late great Freddie Mercury’s sound, charisma and influence is still felt in the entertainment world to this day, over twenty years after his sad death from AIDS related causes. September 5th 2013 would have been Freddie’s 67th birthday, and to mark the occasion, performers including Roger Daltrey, Melanie C, Alfie Boe and Al Murray will be taking to the stage at One Mayfair for an evening of comedy and rock ‘n’ roll to support the Queen AIDS Benefit, to raise money for The Mercury Phoenix Trust – fighting AIDS worldwide. House band for the evening will once again be fronted by Queen’s regular musical director and keyboard player Spike Edney and his All Star band. As well as the stellar line up of performances there will be an on the night auction with lots including a signed Katy Perry photo (with Katy dressed as Freddie!), a Taylor Swift signature red guitar and a box for 10 at the Royal Albert Hall. The main prize is a once in a lifetime 3 night stay in New York with VIP guest passes to the Tribeca film festival with a meet and greet with the legendary Robert De Niro, flights courtesy of Virgin Atlantic. After the death of Freddie Mercury in 1991 the remaining members of Queen and their manager, Jim Beach, organised The Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert for AIDS awareness, the proceeds of which were used to launch The Mercury Phoenix Trust. Since 1992 the trust has raised millions of pounds and continued to spread awareness to help in the worldwide fight against AIDS. Click here for more info on the Trust. One of the Trust’s initiatives, ‘Freddie For A Day’, held annually September 5, is a fun, flamboyant extravaganza. The day is a celebration of Freddie and his life and asks simply that fundraisers dress up in some way as the great man himself. From a simple moustache to a full head to toe Freddie ensemble, a Freddie fancy dress party to a Freddie flash mob, anything goes… as long as each person dressing up asks family and friends to sponsor them to do so to help raise funds for the cause. Freddie For A Day has been supported by the likes of Katy Perry, Matt Lucas, Jeff Beck, Ben Elton, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, Chris Evans, Red Bull Formula 1 team, and last year Rovio, the creators of ‘Angry Birds’, immortalised Freddie as a character within the world famous game. Rovio will once again this year be supporting Freddie For a Day and the Mercury Phoenix Trust, more news on that to follow. To mark Freddie’s birthday, the Mercury Phoenix Trust have also teamed up with Hard Rock Cafe’s across the world to help raise awareness and funds offering prizes for the best dressed Freddie’s as well as entertainment throughout the day. **Fri 23 Aug 13** Across The Board Books™ proudly announces… FOR THE FIRST TIME IN PRINT! THE QUEEN CHRONOLOGY: The Recording & Release History Of The Band Available now for pre-order, visit: Price: $24.99 (USD) Toronto, Canada – August 22nd, 2013 – Originally an ebook only, demand was so high for the book to be released in a physical format that Across The Board Books™ knew it had to make it happen! For this new format, it was decided that it would be best to go back to the original painting by co-author Patrick Lemieux and create the cover using all new elements, rather than simply up-scaling the smaller format Kindle Edition cover previously used for the ebook. The Print Edition will also feature updated content, with new entries and Vault Descriptions. These updates will appear in the next Kindle Edition on the same day the Print book is released. The Queen Chronology is a comprehensive account of the studio recording and release history of Freddie Mercury, Brian May, John Deacon and Roger Taylor, who joined forces in 1971 as the classic line-up of the rock band Queen. 8 years of extensive research have gone into the creation of the Chronology, which covers the very beginnings of band members’ careers, their earliest songwriting efforts and recording sessions, through the recording and releasing of Queen’s 15 original studio albums with their classic line-up, to the present-day solo careers of Brian May and Roger Taylor. All of this information is presented date by date in chronological order, with detailed descriptions of each song version, including those both released and known to be unreleased. Every Queen and solo album, single, non-album track, edit, remix and extended version is examined, as are known demos or outtakes, pre-Queen recordings and guest appearances. It’s all here in one place: The Queen Chronology! Patrick Lemieux is a Canadian artist and writer. His articles for Queen’s Official Website (www.queenonline.com) include The Lost History Of A Queen Track, A Chronicle Of Magic, The Journey Back To The Light, A Mystery In The Wreckage and co-authored with Adam Unger The Elektra Edits. He also painted the cover art for The Queen Chronology. Adam Unger is the owner and webmaster of QueenVault.com and has contributed articles to Queen’s Official Website, including B-Sides and The Elektra Edits (co-authored with Patrick Lemieux). |

**Wed 21 Aug 13** With producers of the much anticipated North American touring production having announced their full casting this past week in readiness for an autumn opening, the London mother ship production of Queen and Ben Elton’s We Will Rock You today produced its own casting news, revealing details of a revamped cast for 2013/ 2014. Dominion Theatre production, which has played since May 2002, also announced that it is extending its current booking period to mid-April 2014. While the new 2013-2014 cast will continue to star long running audience favourites Oliver Tompsett (Galileo), Rachel Wooding (Scaramouche), Brenda Edwards (Killer Queen), Kevin Kennedy (Pop), and Alasdair Harvey (Khashoggi), the show welcomes in a new ‘Meat’ and ‘Britney’, with Amanda Coutts making a return to the show and Rolan Bell joining the West End cast after grabbing attention for his performance as ‘Britney’ in the international Arena tour production of the show. Amanda Coutts has become a regular casting favourite in We Will Rock You. She first joined the cast in 2007 as a Scaramouche and Meat cover, later taking over the role of Meat and regularly playing Scaramouche. She then played the lead role of Scaramouche in the UK touring production, and now returns to the Dominion to reprise the role of Meat. Her other touring and West End shows include Fame, Footloose, and West Side Story. As well as his touring work with We Will Rock You, Londoner Rolan Bell’s credits include Ragtime, the Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Carmen Jones at The Royal Festival Hall, and the Theatre Royal Stratford East production The Harder They Come for which he was nominated for a What’s On Stage Best Newcomer award. His TV Credits include the regular part of Theo in Eastenders. Rehearsals for the new company start September 2 for an October 7 first night. Booking for the new period to April 2014 opens up within 10 days. Ticket prices remain unchanged at £35.25 - £91.25 (including restoration levy). New booking fee £2.25. Of the theatre’s new booking charges, We Will Rock You General Manager Peter Gibbon Hansen says: “We have campaigned long and hard on behalf of our customers to secure this substantial reduction. We’re delighted that these efforts have resulted in making theatre-going so much more reasonable in cost for those who want to enjoy the excitement of the live musical theatre experience.” We Will Rock You has proved one of the West End’s most solid hits since it opened May 2002, going on to become a worldwide sensation. The show has now been seen in local productions in 17 countries, playing to an audience of over 15 million people. The North American production opens its national tour in Baltimore, MD, at the France-Merrick Performing Arts Center this coming October 15, 2013, thereafter scheduled to reach 25 further cities.
