THE MERCURY PHOENIX TRUST PRERANA, NEPAL APPEAL
- OVER £5,000 RAISED
Direct link

Prerana Appeal

On May 11th the MPT launched an appeal to raise funds to help our friends at Prerana in Nepal, a local NGO in the Kathmandu Valley working on education and prevention with youths at risk of HIV & STI. The organisation has been caught up in the aftermath of the earthquakes that had hit the region. Your response to their plight was astonishing and one that we should all feel very proud of. The total amount donated was £5,256.

The message below is for you. Thank you.

Team MPT

***

Warm Greetings from Prerana!

Words are less to express our immense gratitude to the donors who have supported us through online Prerana Appeal. We have endured the harsh reality of Mother Nature and on remembering that day our hearts still tremble. It was a nightmare, yet we have learned more from this terrible experience.

We are grateful that we had support from our longstanding donor the Mercury Phoenix Trust, who stood by us throughout and helped us constantly. As I said earlier, despite being miles and miles apart, the MPT comforted us and caressed our pain jointly and encouraged us to move along.

We are thankful for your efforts through the Prerana Appeal and will assure the use of the collected funds for its intended purpose. We hope for your continue support.

With Regards,
Sajana Golay

WWRY MUSICAL RETURNS TO COLOGNE THIS MONTH - PREMIERE 12 JULY

We Will Rock You - Brian May - https://youtu.be/DPNy77QhrTE

Press Release: We Will Rock You Returns To Cologne
3rd November 2014

The Legend is back! Only from 9th July to 16th August 2015 at the Musical Dome Cologne

WE WILL ROCK YOU, the musical by QUEEN and Ben Elton, will at last be back in Cologne! From 2004 to 2008 the bombastic rock extravaganza shook the city by the Rhine for four consecutive years. Along the way it electrified up to 2 million spectators. No other musical has been more successful to date, neither in cologne nor in the whole of North Rhine-Westphalia. From Cologne the worldwide hit-musical set off for triumphant runs in the whole of Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Now the legend returns to rock the Musical Dome for only a few weeks from 9th July to 16th August 2015.

Brian May: “We’re thrilled to bring this technically revised German production of WE WILL ROCK YOU finally back to Cologne, the place where it all began in 2004. This version of our Rock Theatrical is like no other in the world. The story has its own subtle twists, and the company have their own very unique style. It’s wonderful to have these highly talented young people singing and playing our songs - a unique interaction which keeps us in contact with a new generation. We’re very proud and grateful to see the massive success of WE WILL ROCK YOU around the world. People of all ages come to see the show, many who weren’t alive when Freddie was with us. This show has helped to redefine modern Musical Theatre - it's totally live and dangerous, and above all - it rocks!”

WE WILL ROCK YOU, produced in conjunction with Brian May and Roger Taylor, is one of the most successful musicals of all time. More than sixteen million fans from around the world have already been rocked by the show, with more than 6.5 million alone at the Dominion Theatre, one of the biggest stages in the West End of London. No wonder We WILL ROCK YOU has won prizes such as the West End’s much sought-after Olivier! Audience Award, in 2011.

The Musical Dome in Cologne will be presenting the updated original version of the QUEEN musical, including newly re-mastered video animations created by production designer, the late Mark Fisher, in collaboration with the acclaimed lighting designer Willie Williams. Between them Fisher and Williams designed some of the most spectacular rock tours, most prominently their joint work for U2.

The cast and band need to have what it takes to reach the high standards of QUEEN’s back catalogue and of this rhapsodic musical production, so they are being selected at international auditions. Then there will be intensive rehearsals before the premiere in Cologne and the author and director Ben Elton himself will put the finishing touches to the script, giving the rock musical at the Musical Dome its own, fresh feel.

In Cologne the music supervision will again be in the hands of rock icons Brian May and Roger Taylor themselves; after all, the QUEEN songs not only form the backbone to the story but also guarantee that extravagant rock sound. At the end the two legendary QUEEN musicians will decide who meets their high standards and can rock in the WE WILL ROCK YOU band in Cologne.

The original London version of the rock musical was written by the celebrated bestselling author Ben Elton (behind Mr Bean and more) and was produced by Queen Theatrical Productions along with Robert de Niro’s Tribeca Theatrical Productions and Phil McIntyre Entertainment. The music and lyrics to WE WILL ROCK YOU of course come from QUEEN, with Ben Elton again directing.

The QUEEN story is one of the most impressive in pop history with more than 170 million albums sold worldwide, 18 number-one albums, numerous number-one singles and DVDs, joining the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and the Songwriters’ Hall of Fame, over 700 concerts all over the world, including the historic appearance at Live Aid and a Guinness Book of World Records Award for the most successful UK chart album in history – QUEEN was and is one of the greatest rock groups of all time. 2011 marked the mega-group’s fortieth anniversary. Their own musical WE WILL ROCK YOU crowns the group’s incredible success story in an impressive way.

WE WILL ROCK YOU tells the story of a globalized future without musical instruments. A handful of rock rebels, the Bohemians, fight against the all-powerful Globalsoft company and its boss, the Killer Queen; they fight for freedom, individuality and the rebirth of the age of rock. Scaramouche and Galileo, two young outsiders, cannot come to terms with the bleak conformist reality. They join the Bohemians and embark on the search to find the unlimited power of freedom, love and Rock!

The very first “Rock Theatrical", as Brian May calls the musical, will be coming to the Musical Dome in Cologne from from 9th July to 16th August 2015, in a lavish German production of the original.

With a wink and many ironic sideswipes WE WILL ROCK YOU is more than just a show title, more than a musical and more than a rock concert – it is a promise: WE WILL ROCK YOU!
