CONFUSION SURROUNDS RELEASE DATE OF DTS TITLE FROM QUEEN 'THE GAME'
Report: 26 April 03
High Fidelity Review has been contacted by a number of readers whose
pre-orders for ‘The Game’ have not yet shipped and they
have assumed that the release date was delayed. However, this is not
the case, according to DTS ‘The Game’ was released according
to schedule on April 8th. We can confirm this, the title has been spotted
in stores such as Best Buy and is available for purchase on-line via
DTS’ own web site.
However, major retailers such as Amazon.com
and DVD Empire still show the release date as being April 29th and will
not be shipping discs until at least that date. When we pointed this
out to DTS, their representative Kristin Thomson commented: “That
is odd – it’s been out in retail for almost a month”.
If you have pre-ordered a copy, then our advice would be to write to
the retailer responsible and enquire about the delay, especially if
the disc doesn’t show up next week.
‘The Game’ follows in the
footsteps of ‘A Night at the Opera’, Queen’s first
DVD-Audio release made available in 2002. An exclusive DVD-Audio release,
the title features surround re-mixes created by Brian May, Roger Taylor
and Justin Shirley-Smith. Also on the disc are synchronised lyrics and
a photo gallery while audio options include high-resolution MLP DVD-Audio
tracks and for DVD-Video players, lossy DTS 96/24 and two-channel PCM.
