ROSS GIRVEN

'Khashoggi', Killer Queen's right-hand man



In a career spanning 12 years, Ross Girven has established himself as one of New Zealand's most versatile actors, having worked in theatre, film, television, musicals, opera, radio and rock'n'roll.

His many stage credits include Marat/Sade, Galileo, "The Rivers of China", "A View From The Bridge", "Hamlet", "The Merchant Of Venice", 'M.Butterfly, "The Three Musketeers, "Amadeus"; "The Cherry Orchard", "Torch Song Trilogy", "Brighton Beach Memoirs", "Twelfth Night', and most recenlty Tristian Tzara in "Tom Stoppard's "Travesties".

Musicals include "Side By Side By Sondhiem", South Pacific" (Cable), "Blood Brothers" (Eddie), "Cats" (Munkustrapp), "Cabaret" (Emcee),

"Jolson" (Pot), "The Secret Garden" (Dickson), "West Side Story" (Tony), "Jesus Christ Superstar" (Judas) and most recently, the Baker in "Into The Woods".

Operas; include "Lucia Di Lammamor", Madam Butterfly", "The Barber of Seville" and "Porgy and Bess",

Ross took leading roles in film with "Dangerous Orphans" directed by John Laing and Ngatl, directed by Barry Barclay, for which he was nominated as best actor at the NZ Film Awards.

In television Ross has appeared in many series including Shortland Street", "Water Rats", "High Tide", "Homeward Bound", "Marching Girls", "Gloss" and "Typhons People".

Ross has also been a member of a number of bands and has enjoyed some success, and some excess in the process. He continues to write songs against medical advice.

It is fitting that Ross's greatest production occurred in this, his 40th year, when his partner Delia gave birth to their daughter, Grace.
