Invisible Man question

|

[Brian was asked to elaborate on the Invisible Man solo – see LETTERS.]

It was sheer will-power, really, Vincent. You’re right .. it’s not my usual style – but I go impassioned … I could hear this manic solo in my head and somehow I went for it, knowing it was a one-off. The notes sound high because, using that particular pickup combination (fingerboard pickup out of phase with middle pickup – like for the Bo Rap solo) the harmonics are accentuated, and by picking at a particular place on the string, and brushing with the side of the thumb at the same time, I can almost eliminate the fundamental note. The funny thing is … it’s not that difficult to play, but you need to be in a determined mood !

Cheers
