Huge respects to these brave Republican senators. I believe common decency (no capitals) in the USA triumphed tonight. Just as in the U.K., I will be hoping this heralds a future in which politicians collaborate in the interests of the public, regardless of party allegiances. Yes ! There is hope.
Also want to say Sen Chuck Schumer is the kind of politician that engenders the hope that, without recriminations or polarisation, and the consequent bad feeling and waste of energy, decisions CAN be made cross-party. Bless ‘I’m. Unfortunately the voices of derision and point-scoring are still blathering on. Disappointing. It will take time.
