My lucky shot ! Last night up at the Javalambra Observatory, where the night sky is absolutely stunning,we saw a few meteors – and I was happy to capture one ! Here we are looking at Sagittarius, behind one of the observatory domes – with the Milky Way looking like billowing smoke clouds above. And there is our visitor from space — a lonely Perseid I think. Why do I think this ? Because its colours are exactly right, and if you trace its path backwards across to the other side of the sky you come pretty close to the Perseid meteor shower radiant – in the constellation of Perseus (not visible in this picture) !
