“Holy Man” with Brian May and Roger Taylor now less likely to be heard

The Long-delayed film about Dennis Wilson’s final years may never happen…. Aaron Eckhart too exhausted from shooting Frankenstein in Australia to portray Dennis Wilson — the Beach Boys drummer who drowned 30 years ago this month … and left the production just before shooting was to begin in June 2012. His departure has indefinitely delayed The Drummer. Producers now say biopic’s future is murkier. The trustee for Wilson’s estate suggests project now officially dead in the water.

Capitol Records issued Made in California in August, a Beach Boys set including bootlegged and unreleased songs. Archivist Alan Boyd said more remains in the vault…. “There’s a handful of things, maybe half a dozen or so that actually have vocals on them,” he said.

The report continues … A 6-minute version of Wilson’s unfinished “Holy Man,” featuring Foo Fighters’ Taylor Hawkins and Queen’s Brian May and Roger Taylor, which Jakobson produced, will likely remain unheard, given the movie’s unclear direction. Read article here
