***FREDDIE FOR A DAY IN AID OF THE MERCURY PHOENIX TRUST 5 SEPTEMBER 2014*** A DAY CELEBRATING QUEEN LEGEND FREDDIE MERCURY AND HIS GLORIOUS MOUSTACHE!

Freddie For A Day is the magnificently moustachioed annual fundraising event for The Mercury Phoenix Trust, in memory of legendary Queen front man, Freddie Mercury. It encourages friends and fans around the world to spend the day dressed as Freddie, to raise funds and awareness in the fight against HIV/AIDS.

Freddie wore some of the most outlandish and iconic outfits throughout his career. This is the chance for the public to do exactly the same whilst supporting a great cause.

Freddie For A Day 2014 is on Friday 5 September, the day that would have been Freddie’s 69th birthday.

Since its inception in 2010, more than £500,000 has been raised through celebrity and fan based events and contributions for The Mercury Phoenix Trust. The Trust have worked with some incredible partners, from Google – who created a one off animation in celebration of Freddie’s 65th Birthday – to Rovio, the team behind Angry Birds who also created a ‘Bicycle’ themed animation as well as a very popular ‘Freddie Angry Bird’ t-shirt. Hard Rock Cafe joined the party last year and this year they planning parties in even more of their cafes across the globe!

There have been flash mobs from Japan to Australia, skydivers dressed as Freddie, people going to work and taking trains, planes and buses as Freddie as well as live events around the world.

Now in its fourth year, FFAD is gearing up for 2014’s date. Being part of FFAD could not be easier.

To channel your inner Freddie you can do as little or as much as you like. Either stick with the aviator sunglasses and of course… that ‘tache. Or go the whole hog with a full sparkly body leotard or head-to-toe PVC biker leathers. Supporters can also get involved by sponsoring a Freddie, or by donating to the Mercury Phoenix Trust.

“We’re delighted to announce the fourth annual Freddie For A Day. The event has really been taken into the hearts of the public since it began in 2010, we’ve raised over £500,000 for an extraordinary cause. Grab your leotards, your leathers, your vests and of course, your moustaches and let’s make 5 September 2014 the most successful FFAD yet!” – The Mercury Phoenix Trust

The Mercury Phoenix Trust was founded in 1992 by Queen members Brian May and Roger Taylor and their manager Jim Beach to help distribute money raised from the 1992 Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert for AIDS awareness. Since then, the Trust has raised over $15 million to help in the fight against HIV/AIDS worldwide.
