Students at Chester Catholic High School are busy rehearsing for a forthcoming production of the musical We Will Rock You based on the greatest hits of legendary rock band Queen. The musical features classic songs such as I Want To Break Free, Somebody To Love and the title song, We Will Rock You.

Set on Planet Mall in the year 2315, the show tells the story of a world where all musical instruments are banned. GlobalSoft Empire generates the tunes and everybody downloads them. It is an age of Boy Bands and Girl Bands. It is the age of Manufactured Hits. That is until Gallileo, played by Aaron Bladen, breaks free from the laser cells of Killer Queen who rules on Planet Mall. With the help of Scaramouche, played by Maisie McMahon, Galileo embarks on a quest to rediscover the music that once filled the hearts of a nation.

Aaron Bladen (Galileo) said: “I’ve always enjoyed Queen’s songs and I am excited to be given the opportunity of performing them night after night.” Head girl and leading lady Maisie McMahon added: “We Will Rock You has been such a fun show to be a part of and I can’t wait to share all our hard work and entertain audiences with this incredible show.” Maisie McMahon plays Scaramouche.

The cast of 45 talented performers are joined onstage by the We Will Rock You band who bring the iconic music of Queen to life in what promises to be the musical highlight of the year.

Head of performing arts, David Hussin, thanked all the students involved for their commitment and professionalism. He said: “It is genuinely a privilege to work alongside such talented and dedicated young people.”
