REVIEW OF PART 1 by Gill Crawford

The Who first played the Isle of Wight Festival in 1969. Now that’s a long, long time ago but anyone who saw them close last year’s Glastonbury knows they still play a blinding set. “We didn’t think we’d last the week,” said Roger Daltrey at their storming Hyde Park gig last summer, “And here we are 50 years on.”

Once again their performance will be an unashamed celebration of their back catalogue delivered with as much arm-windmilling, microphone-twirling gusto as a band half their age. Edith Bowman and Jamie East present highlights of this year’s event that also includes the Stereophonics, Faithless and Queen with Adam Lambert.
