Team Rock and KLab Entertainment today revealed the third round of artists for the Classic Rock Awards 2016 + Live Performance. This year’s event, sponsored by KLab Entertainment, is the first ever in the series to be held in Japan.

The Classic Rock Roll Of Honour 2016 includes four categories voted for by the public, and voting for Best New Band, Album Of The Year, Band Of The Year and Reissue Of The Year is now open at www.classicrockmagazine.com/awards

Siân Llewellyn, Editor of Classic Rock, says: “First London, then Los Angeles and now Japan. Last November we announced our intention to take the Classic Rock Roll Of Honour to Tokyo, and today we’re delighted to open the public vote. With brilliant new bands to celebrate and fantastic releases from the last 12-months to consider, whittling down the shortlist proved a tougher task than ever. But we got there in the end! In what will be an epic night of the guitars, Kirk Hammett and Def Leppard’s Phil Collen will now join Cheap Trick, Joe Walsh, Richie Sambora and Orianthi in an evening that celebrates the incomparable maestro Jeff Beck… Classic Rock? The third round of artists announced for the event features Kirk Hammett and Def Leppard’s Phil Collen.

Kirk Hammett has gained international fame as the much-celebrated lead guitarist of perhaps the greatest heavy metal band of all time, Metallica. The band, now celebrating their 35th anniversary, have won numerous awards including Grammys, and recorded many US Billboard chart-topping hits. Recently inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, Metallica truly fit the definition ‘legend of rock’. Kirk Hammett has also flexed his creative muscles in the business arena, founding his own guitar effects pedal company, KHDK.

Phil Collen is the lead guitarist with Def Leppard, one of Britain’s biggest and most successful rock bands, who recorded mega-hit albums such as Hysteria and Pyromania that changed the face of rock forever. In 2015 the ever-popular band celebrated 35 years since their debut album. A lover of blues-tinged hard rock, Phil Collen last year launched his blues-rooted side project Delta Deep, garnering international attention and proving that he still has much to contribute to the world of music.

This year’s Classic Rock Roll Of Honour Awards is the first in the acclaimed series of awards events ever to be held in Japan. Divided into two parts, the evening consists of an awards ceremony plus live performances by a number of rock’s true living legends. The list of guests of honour who will be appearing on the night includes Jeff Beck, Cheap Trick, Joe Walsh, Kirk Hammett and Phil Collen. Come November all eyes will be on Tokyo as the world of rock descends upon the city for a night of unforgettable entertainment.

The Classic Rock Roll of Honour Awards takes place on November 11 at the Ryogoku Sumo Hall, Tokyo, Japan.
