Rock king Lambert makes killer Queen at Belfast’s SSE Arena

Freddie Mercury he is not, but Adam Lambert did a fantastic job of filling the rock legend’s shoes last night. The singer took over the SSE Arena in Belfast with the remaining members of Queen for their one-off spectacular. And they put on a show the people of the city will never forget.
Lambert was a perfect replacement for the flamboyant lead vocalist who once wowed the world with his four-octave range.
The crowd clearly appreciated his pitch-perfect renditions of Queen hits We Will Rock You, Bohemian Rhapsody, Don’t Stop Me Now and We Are The Champions. The American Idol star was just nine when Mercury died, but you could have been forgiven for thinking he was Freddie reborn with his heart-rending rendition of Who Wants to Live Forever?
Queen never played the city as a band when the legendary Mercury was on the go. But guitarist Brian May told the thousands of ecstatic fans Belfast was where the collaboration with Lambert began in 2011. He added: “We go back a long way. Thank you for the warm welcome. Who would have thought at the age of 95 I’d still be doing this?”
