Badger Trust logoPRESS RELEASE:
BADGER TRUST

There are a number of opportunities coming up in which you can voice your opinion regarding the badger cull.

The first is the Consultation on a ‘Strategy for achieving officially Bovine TB free status for England’. We have only two days left to complete this DEFRA consultation. It is an online consultation where you can go through the questions and look at them before finalising the questionnaire.
Deadline is this Thursday 26th September. Please respond – look at our recent press releases for guidance.

The next is the March Against The Badger Cull in Manchester on Sunday 29th September to coincide with the start of the Conservative Party Conference. People will be meeting at 11am at Liverpool Road to hear anti-cull speeches before setting off on the march itself. More details can be found here. This is a great chance to join thousands of other badger cull protesters to send a clear and direct message about how we feel to the government.

With the National Trust’s AGM coming up on 26th October 2013, members have been given the opportunity to vote for their preferred members of Council (there is some useful information on the candidates on the LACS website) and also for the Members’ motion to vaccinate badgers on National Trust land. You can vote online in less than 5 minutes! Simply sign in to the National Trust proxy voting site here. Online voting closes on Friday 18th October 2013. As it stands, the National Trust Board are advising AGAINST the Members’ motion to initiate a badger vaccination programme on its land. Your VOTE counts!

Lastly we would like to remind you that there are peaceful patrols every night in Somerset and Gloucestershire that you can join. The patrols are doing a great job and are making a real difference. The more of us who can help and support them the better. Details of Somerset Badger Patrol can be found on Facebook and Twitter. If you do not use social media, please ring our office 08458 287878.

For details of Wounded Badger Patrols in Gloucestershire please email wbpglos@gmail.com

We hope you will be able to help in any way you can and thank you for your continuing efforts and support.
