Brian May has used these guitar strings – Full set removed from The Red Special !!

Jiffy Bag containing Brian Mays guitar strings

Certified by Pete Malandrone – Guitar Technto Dr BrianMay

An extremely rare opportunity to own a piece of Rock History!

Authenticated by Pete Malandrone (Guitar Tech to Dr May) this is a complete set of strings, removed from the Red Special guitar, owned and played by legendary Queen guitarist, Brian May.

Removed after the recent Queen + Adam Lambert North American Summer Arena Tour, it has been confirmed that these strings were used throughout the tour, and that strings would have been replaced only as and when needed.

Pete Malandrone says:  ‘The strings were removed at the end of the tour to allow for some maintenance of the guitar, specifically, the neck pick-up fell off.

The strings are not changed for every show, but are inspected for wear every day (the .024 D string takes the most battering) and changed as necessary.

It’s impossible to say which ones have been on there the longest but at a guess I would say the .032 A string might have done the whole tour…’

So…with the help of Brian May, how many times have these strings played Bohemian Rhapsody?

How many times have they played: We Will Rock You? We are The Champions?…Or Tie Your Mother Down?

Well, the 19 date tour included concerts in: Chicago, Vancouver, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Dallas, New York, Washington, Boston, Toronto, Tokyo, Perth, Sydney, Melbourne and Auckland…

Have these strings played your favourite Queen song?

See for yourself… This website has published set lists for all the shows: http://www.setlist.fm/setlists/queen-adam-lambert-3de3997.html

The Red Special guitar was built by Brian and his father, Harold, during the 1960s and has been used on countless Queen tacks, throughout the years, defining Brian’s signature style and creating an iconic, unmistakable sound. The sound of Queen (Brian May, Freddie Mercury, John Deacon and Roger Taylor).

‘For the last 50 years The Red Special has been the guitar that Brian played on every Queen album, in all of Queen’s live shows around the world and on the most special of occasions, including his legendary appearance on the roof of Buckingham Palace,

Live Aid and the closing ceremony of the London 2012 Olympics.’

…And THESE strings have been on THAT guitar!

And now they could be yours!

… and it’s all for a very good cause.

Brian May has kindly donated this set of strings, which have been sealed and unopened, for me to auction for charity. The proceeds of this auction will be given to Parkinson’s UK.

Parkinson’s UK is a charity close to my heart. My father, Henry (pictured) was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease more than 12 years ago. A local sporting hero. A footballer. A cricketer. Umpire. Referee. He even ‘reffed’ the legendary George Best… (pictured)

But life has changed, for my dad…

Parkinson’s disease (PD) is a progressive, neurodegenerative disease that belongs to the group of conditions called motor system disorders. PD cannot yet be cured and sufferers get worse over time as the normal bodily functions, including breathing, balance, movement, and heart function worsen.
