(ENGLISH VERSION)

FABIO FAZIO: I would like to show something really beautiful to our viewers. This very special book was published three days ago, the title is “Queen in 3-D”, a new updated edition, entirely written and edited by Brian May. The publisher is Gremese, whom I thank. A beautiful book, full of fun facts, anecdotes, photographs, stories, passion! It’s like going through the story of Queen with Brian May, and it’s also the history of our own life, we all lived with – had that soundtrack.

BRIAN MAY: Look, it comes with a viewer, so there is also the possibility of seeing the images in three dimensions.

FF: Exactly, in fact, here it is, I have mine too.

BM: They’re not just two-dimensional photographs, but they’re three-dimensional and this makes the difference!

FF: And it’s a great passion of yours! In the end, we discovered that you actually have always followed and pursued 3-D photography, together with music.

BM: Yes, I probably have too many passions… Of course my main passion is music, but also stereoscopy (…)

FF: So during the whole time with Queen you were taking pictures, and you documented everything.

BM: Yes, that’s right and it’s very easy! If we had some time I could show it to you. Even with an iPhone or any other mobile phone, you can take photos in three dimensions. Just take two photos, one after the other. It’s all explained on my app. Because we do need three dimensional photographs, today. I convinced a lot of people, including scientists from NASA and ISA. In fact, we have moved from the Victorian period to space, with the three dimensions.

FF: Why do you say there is a need for three-dimensional photographs? What do they add?

BM: Because we have two eyes for a good reason. In fact, we have a privilege because we can see depth and, in evolutionary terms, it was a great advantage to have two eyes because we can see further. (…)

FF: There is a great humanity in this book, in these little stories, behind the scenes, that we never imagined… The fragility, too, of a big rock star (…)

BM: Thank you, and I really have to thank Raffaella Rolla as well, who made a wonderful translation.

FF: It’s true, very beautiful. Queen in 3-D, published by Gremese, the story of the greatest rock band in history through the words and pictures by Brian May. Thank you, thank you very much Brian May.

FF: Esatto, infatti eccolo qua, ce l’ho anch’io uguale

Grazie, grazie Brian May

TRANSLATION – E&OE

Brian May from Fazio, thanks to the translator Raffaella Rolla for the book “Queen in 3-D”

The stereoscopic-style volume tells the story of the famous British group through the memories and shots of the well-known artist

“I want to thank Raffaella Rolla, she performed a wonderful translation”. Words and music by Brian May, guitarist, songwriter and composer, famous for being a member of Queen, in connection last night from Surrey to “Che Tempo Che Fa”, the program hosted by Fabio Fazio broadcast on Rai 3.

The funny question and answer was an opportunity to talk about “Queen in 3-D”, the stereoscopic-style volume that tells the story of the famous British group through the memories and shots of May. An intimate view from inside the band in 3-D format.

Before saying goodbye, May thanked Raffaella Rolla, Milanese by birth, but resident between Val Bormida and Varazzino, for the excellent work she had done.

I have known Brian for more than 20 years now. For this book, to be honest, it was not me who contacted him, but it was Brian who chose me, expressly asking the publisher that the translation was entrusted to me because, in addition to knowing the subject, I know him well, his way of writing and expressing himself, and for Brian, this is fundamental “explained Rolla on the occasion of the book’s release.
