My Dad

|

My Dad’s birthday today – April 7th. Born in London, a cockney, in 1921, he would have been 92 today.

Harold served his country in the 2nd World War in the Royal Air Force,

flying as a navigator, in Mosquitoes and Beaufighters.

Harold May

Here he is, Harold May, in 1940, just before he met my Mum, Ruth Irving Fletcher, a Scot, serving in the WRAF.

Their only son Brian was born in 1947. Around 1965 Harold and Brian completed a home-made, self-designed guitar – the ‘Red Special.’
In 1977 Harold watched that guitar being played at Madison Square Garden, NYC.

Happy Birthday my Daddy, wherever you are.
You would be proud to see how your grandchildren – and great-grandchildren – are doing.
