FRITZ RAU
We salute Fritz Rau tonight,
sadly passed away at the age of 83.
Fritz was the original Rock and Roll promoter in Germany,
and a truly cultured and generous man.
His knowledge and insight into the industry was matchless,
and the wonderful stories he had to tell stretched back way further than Rock
– to Marlene Dietrich and beyond.
He was a legend and a mentor to every German impresario,
the first champion of Queen in his country, promoting our first tour
in partnership with Michael Sheller in 1975.
He will be sadly missed by all.
RIP Fritz.
