The mysterious object – an engineering triumph !

Well, nobody guessed what it was, which surprised me … because I thought news of such a brilliant invention must be spreading around the world like wildfire ! Here it is again (in stereo, of course … see HERE for instructions on how to view in 3-D) in all its simple glory.

Would you like to see it the other way up ? That will maybe make things clearer.

Yes ! It’s a bar of soap. And, to my mind, a modern triumph of design. We have at some time left our bars of soap in a pool of water when we we’ve rushed out of the house in a hurry, only to find them transformed into a sad slimy mess by the time we return. And we have all seen soap dishes designed, with various degrees of success, to prevent this happening. But here is a bar of soap ingeniously equipped with its own FEET ! It stands alone ! Left in a damp place, it has the capacity to elevate itself, and allow the blessed drying air to waft around its ankles, which in many cases must save it from a sticky end ! Note also the gentle longitudinal curve of its body, enabling the feet at the extreme ends to lift the middle an extra few millimetres. Well, to me, this is something to bring a lift to the spirits ! I salute the designer of the Moscow Kempinski Soap Bar !
