I still like to play these games. Making a kind of cooked-up 3-D image out of an eclipse sequence. I didn’t manage to see the annular solar eclipse yesterday so this is the closest I’ll get.
So, letting your eyes relax and wander where they will, does this look like a dark Moon came between us and the Sun’s face – but was not quite big enough to cover it ?
Well, that’s an annular eclipse. They’re quite rare. But in a billion years’ time, if we’re still here, they will become the norm – rather than the beautiful TOTAL Solar eclipses we see at present, because the Moon is gradually moving away from us.
