OK – call me crazy – but this is my first attempt to extract a stereo image of a galaxy (or group of galaxies), around 13 billion light years away, from the First JWST Deep Field Image.

JWST Deep Field Image

The two images are magnified and distorted by gravitational lensing, as the light travels towards us by two different routes, bent by the enormous gravitational pull of the giant cluster of galaxies known as SMACS 0723 which are seen in the centre of the original JWST image, first shared by Joe Biden on this Twitter feed. But I’ll explain later.

Not sure if I was successful in capturing structure in depth, but I do believe it’s the first time anyone has tried !!!

Cheers !
