Soundwaves art

War Child is working with renowned British digital artist Tim Wakefield on a project called “Soundwaves” to celebrate and promote the work of iconic musicians. Soundwaves is an exciting concept that transposes music into the visual arts. The results are stunning, unique and highly collectable. Tim has developed the process of capturing the sound images of a song from a soundboard, manipulating and colorizing them through a computerized process, and transferring them to a large canvas. The canvases are then individually hand-signed by the musicians and then numbered and signed by Tim.

Tim is selling the works of 20 select artists via Indiegogo. The site launches this week and runs through February featuring pieces inspired by Alice Cooper, Bee Gees, Black Keys, Bon Jovi, Bryan Ferry, Chemical Brothers, Elbow, Eric Clapton, Joss Stone, Joy Division, Kate Bush, Katherine Jenkins, Pink Floyd, Queen, Stereophonics, The Cure, The Killers and a digital screensaver based on John Lennon’s “Happy Christmas (War Is Over)”. Prices start at $25 for the screensaver and $400 for the signed prints. The website address is: http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/soundwaves-art

The sale is in aid of War Child’s Children of Syria Appeal (http://www.warchild.org.uk/news/1000-days-suffering-syrias-children) which aims to raise funds for a new project with Syrian children outside of the refugee camps, where thousands of children remain inaccessible to services or too hidden to receive help. All donations to War Child’s appeal will be matched pound-for-pound by the UK Government – so the money raised from the sales of this artwork will count double!

About artist Tim Wakefield:
Tim Wakefield is an extraordinary and unique British artist with a keen sense of giving back and coordinating art to benefit charity. Wakefield’s original vision was to create images that art lovers and musicians could relate to and one that reflected the nature of the music.

“I am privileged to work with people who I have admired and listened to most of my life. Music created by people like Sir Paul McCartney, Slash, BB King,Tina Turner, Muse, Pearl Jam, Abba, Mick Jones and so many others continue to inspire me to create new pieces of Soundwaves Art,” says Wakefield.

About War Child:
War Child are on the ground in some of the worst conflict-affected places in the world, providing support that changes lives. They are there long after the TV cameras have gone home: for the immediate impacts and for the long-term, from emergencies to recovery. War Child are there for the most vulnerable children whose homes, families and communities have been torn apart. This includes children living and working on the streets, exploited in the worst forms of child labour and child-survivors of sexual violence. War Child currently work in Afghanistan, Central African Republic, Democratic Republic of Congo, Iraq, Uganda and Syria.
