ROCK superstars Queen lived up to their song title We Are The Champions yesterday by winning the award for World’s Greatest Air Guitar Anthem.

Their Bohemian Rhapsody topped a potty poll to find people’s favourite track to “play” an imaginary guitar to.

The classic pipped rivals like Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin and Status Quo.

Queen guitarist Brian May said “This is a great honour – a step to Air Guitar being taken seriously as an art form.”

But Quo at least had the satisfaction of getting two hits in the Top Ten – Rockin’ All Over The World and Down Down – while Robbie Williams was a shock inclusion at No 16 with Let Me Entertain You.

Quo frontman Francis Rossi was “delighted” with the band’s double success as more than 15,000 fans voted in the online survey by www.only-music.com. Rossi, 51, said: “When I was a kid I used to ‘play’ a tennis racket. Other lads used cricket bats but I never understood that because a bat didn’t have strings.

“One of my favourites was Apache by The Shadows – and I’m pleased that made it in at No 24.”

Laurence Alkin, for www.only-music.com said: “Bohemian Rhapsody’s succes is down to Wayne’s World – and Mike Myers and his pals’ headbanging to the track in their car.
