Former cast members of Queen musical We Will Rock You will return to perform the band’s most famous songs in a one-off show with the BBC Concert Orchestra.

Four performers, who all appeared in the West End production of We Will Rock You during its 12-year run at the Dominion Theatre, will perform alongside a rock band and the full concert orchestra for a Friday Night Is Music Night special.

It will take place at the London Coliseum, home of English National Opera, and will be the first time the venue has hosted the Radio 2 music programme.

The performance, on September 21, will showcase some of Queen’s greatest songs and is a celebration of two of the band’s albums, A Night at the Opera and News of the World, which celebrates its 40th anniversary this year.

The concert will be conducted by Richard Sidwell, and the performers are Rachael Wooding, Peter Eldridge, Jenna Lee-James and Michael Falzon.

Lee-James, who performing in the musical’s original cast and has played all three female leading roles in the show, said: “Being part of an original cast is always something special but We Will Rock You was also my West End debut so was very special indeed.

“I cannot wait to be back in London’s West End performing Queen songs once again with fellow castmates and friends. This time we’ll be singing not only with a rock band but a full orchestra; to hear Queen’s music played in this way is something very unique.”
