Queen‘s Iconic ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ has been voted the number one favourite song of listeners of The Breeze and Anglian Radio networks. The Favourite 500 played in full this Easter weekend and saw the groundbreaking track claim the top spot.
More than 24,000 song votes were registered across one month to make up the Favourite 500 countdown. In total, Queen, fronted by the late, great Freddie Mercury, claimed ten places in the chart with tracks including ‘Don’t Stop Me Now’, ‘Radio Gaga’, ‘These Are The Days Of Our Lives’, ‘The Show Must Go On’, ‘I Want To Break Free’, ‘Under Pressure’ and ‘We Are The Champions’ all featuring in the countdown across the weekend.
Other artists that featured heavily included Elton John, who had the most tracks in the countdown beating Queen by one song to claim eleven singles in the 500; the highest entry was Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me, his duet with the late George Michael placed at number 29. George Michael had nine songs voted in to the chart, the highest being his debut solo single ‘A Different Corner’ at number 15.
The Brits fared well in the Favourite 500 overall with The Beatles, Adele, Phil Collins, Take That, Robbie Williams, David Bowie, Ed Sheeran and The Police all featuring multiple times (along with Queen).
