MPT30 – 30 years of The Mercury Phoenix Trust and The Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert

|

– ‘LONG LIVE FREDDIE’

Roger Taylor letter for The MPT

The launchpad for the Mercury Phoenix Trust was The Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert at Wembley Stadium on April 20th, 1992. Both these significant chapters in the Queen legacy celebrate their 30th Anniversary this year.

Over the next few weeks we will be counting down to that significant date by posting some celebratory footage, written pieces, interviews, merchandise, playlists and photos all across the MPT socials and culminating in the unveiling of a brand new MPT logo and the streaming of the ‘Queen +’ section of the tribute concert on YouTube.

We open this celebration with a very personal and poignant letter written by Roger Taylor 30 years ago in which he outlines the need for the tribute concert and what he hopes it will achieve.

As we post, please feel free to contribute your memories of the tribute concert or of any MPT-related events and projects you have enjoyed over the last 30 years!

Long live Freddie.
