News Release: Bere Regis pupils on song for Bells Appeal

Children at Bere Regis Community School have recorded two songs to support separate events aimed at securing the heritage of their village.

The five to eleven year old pupils sing in the choruses of The Bells Of Bere Regis and the New Woodland Song, They are being released on a CD to help raise funds for St John The Baptist Church bells restoration fund , as 100,000 native trees are being planted in the surrounding woodland.

The children feature in the compositions by local songwriter Linda Lamon, with the Bere Regis Pop-In Singers and Purbeck musicians Pip Evans, Callum Gibson, David George and Lynton Guest.

‘From Little Acorns’, ‘Songs To Celebrate Renewal’ will be launched on Sunday February 2nd. People are invited to drop in at the Lower Drax Hall on North Street in Bere Regis village between 2pm and 5pm to buy the CD, priced £3.50.

There will also be refreshments and a raffle. Video footage and pictures will be on display from the tree planting day in nearby Shitterton, where some of the pupils performed the New Woodland Song live after the land owner, Mr Brian May, officially opened the event.

Dr May’s Save Me Charity has donated a signed sweatshirt for the cause, which will be auctioned separately on Ebay.
