“Hey Hey Bad News” by Bad News — Bad News (1983)
The uproarious, punk-infused British sitcom “The Young Ones” premiered on MTV in 1985 and made American cult heroes of its stars and creators Adrian Edmonson, Rik Mayal, and Nigel Planer.
Less known stateside was Bad News, a comedic heavy metal outfit the trio portrayed in a gut-bustingly funny 1983 mock rockumentary titled “Bad News Tour” that weirdly parallels the simultaneously in-production “This Is Spinal Tap.” In 1987, Queen guitarist Brian May produced Bad News’ self-titled album, forever immortalizing the group’s theme song, “Hey Hey Bad News.”
