NEW air guitar king has been crowned, and for the first time it is a Russian.
Air guitar performers competed for the chance to feature at the finals of the Air Guitar World Championships 2015 at the 45 Special bar in Oulu, Thursday. Nine out of the 30 contestants were chosen to advance into Friday’s finals. Among the successful strummers were contestants from Russia, Germany, Italy, Finland, the UK and America. The 45 Special bar is hosting the 20th Air Guitar World Championships from 26 to 28 August 2015. Participants from all over the world will be judged on their technical ability, mimesmanship, stage presence and ‘airness’; a subjective category which will judge performers on the artistic merit of their performance. Prizes for the winner include a ‘Flying Finn’ guitar donated by Queen guitarist Brian May.
