Very sad to hear of news of the passing of brilliant guitar player, Mike Casswell on Friday 30 September 2016 – in a tragic accident, while on holiday. Sincere condolences to his family, band mates and friends. Mike was in the first incarnation of The Brian May Band’s South American Tour. Many will have benefited from Mike’s Lick Library – see below.

This is the hardest announcement we have ever had to make……….…We are stunned and shocked to announce the death of our band mate and long-time friend, Michael Casswell. Michael died in tragic circumstances on Friday whilst on holiday in Spain. We cannot find the words to describe how we are feeling at this extremely painful time. Michael was an absolutely gifted guitarist and we will miss him enormously as will his fans and followers too. We send our love and sympathy to his family and friends. Remembering a good friend and brilliant musician, Mike Casswell, who played with me in the Brian May Band in 1992, on Cozy Powell’s final solo album Especially For You (for which Mike co-wrote all the songs) and recently was a friend and colleague at the Academy of Contemporary Music in Guildford. He died in a tragic accident on holiday, and will be enormously missed by friends, family, students and anyone who knew him. Shocking news. R.I.P. Michael. 2 October 2016
