On This Day in Queen History – 14 April

In 1976 – Queen played first of two shows at Apollo Stadium, Adelaide, Australia.
In 1978 – Queen played at Ernst-Mercke Halle, Hamburg, Germany.
In 1979 – Queen played the Budokan, Tokyo, Japan.
In 1984 – ‘I Want To Break Free’ broke into the Top 10 at No 3, 12 days after its release date, the single accompanied by the now-famous ‘Coronation Street’ video.
In 1985 – Freddie released a solo single I Was Born To Love You.

In 1988 – The Cross played the Theaterfabrik, Munich, Germany.
In 1988 – Freddie Mercury made a guest appearance at a special charity performance in aid of the Terrence Higgins Trust – Time the Musical, starring Cliff Richard Dominion Theatre, London, UK. Freddie sang” It’s Only Rock’N’Roll” and “In My Defence” with Cliff and ” It’s In Every One Of Us”.

In 2005 – Queen + Paul Rodgers played the Olympiahalle, Munich, Germany. Released for download: ‘I Want It All (Live -14/04/05)’ and ‘All Right Now (Live – 14/04.05)’.
In 2008 – Brian May, Queen and Ben Elton had begun plans for a sequel to the stage production “We Will Rock You: The Musical”.
In 2008 – Brian May formally appointed Chancellor of Liverpool John Moores University, at a ceremony in Liverpool’s St George’s Hall.

In 2012 – Queen + Adam Lambert announced Moscow Olympic Arena show 30 June, changed to 3 July 2012.
In 2013 – We Will Rock You USA Tour dates and ticket info announced.

In 2015 – In a press release the book “Queen in 3-D” – the story of Queen to be presented in more than 200 3-D images of the early days in the 1970s to this year’s tour with Adam Lambert – announced by Brian May and Denis Pellerin. The London Stereoscopic Company presented new 3D titles and selling rights at the London Book Fair, Olympia 14-16 April [Brian attended on 15 April].
