On This Day in Queen History – 15 April

In 1965 – Johnny Quale and the Reaction played the City Hall, Truro, UK.
In 1967 – The Reaction played the Public Hall, Liskeard, UK.
In 1974 – Queen played live on BBC Radio One Sounds Of The 70s with Bob Harris. Four songs Modern Times Rock ‘n’ Roll, March Of The Black Queen, Nevermore and White Queen had been recorded in Langham Studios on March 3. Part of this performance was released on Queen At The Beeb in 1989.
In 1974 – Queen flew to USA to support Mott The Hoople’s N American Tour.
In 1976 – Queen played the Apollo Stadium, Adelaide, Australia.
In 1987 – Queen win Ivor Novello award for Contribution to the British Music.
In 1992 – Brian May & Roger attended Ivor Novello awards in London. “These Are The Days Of Our Lives” received an award, and Brian an award for Best TV Commercial Music for “Driven By You”. The pair donated a cheque for £1m to the Terrence Higgins Trust from sales of re-released “Bohemian Rhapsody”.

In 2011 – ‘Bohemian Rhapsody” again No1 of the 500 Best Songs voted by listeners of of the British Army Radio station.
In 2012 – Brian May & Anita Dobson attended 2012 Olivier awards, Royal Opera House, London, UK. Brian performs “Bohemiam Rhapsody” with “We Will Rock You” Musical London cast.

In 2015 – Broadcast Radio Clyde 2 broadcast 15 April 2017, Brian May & Kerry Ellis pre-recorded interview with Alan Edwards. Subjects covered included their 15 year collaboration, new Golden Days album, Kerry’s plans for later in the year, Brian’s new book “Queen In 3-D” and Queen Monopoly.

In 2020 – Released this day, Brian May prduced and featured in Kings Daugters’ motivational single ‘Get Up’ single and accompanying video – along with Anita Dobson, fans and members of the public contributing clips to the video.  Brian even seen here playing on a “rooftop”.  Encouragement during COVID restriction days.
