Over the past year the legendary British rock band Queen has proved themselves to be hugely in demand again through cooperation with the virtuoso American singer Adam Lambert. Now Queen + Adam Lambert are ready to visit the Jelling Music Festival in May 2016 when they headline Denmark’s Jelling Music Festival on Sunday 29 May. Queen + Adam Lambert first appeared together in 2009 in connection with Adam Lambert’s appearance in the finale of American Idol. The chemistry between the young singer and the two experienced Queen members was so good that in 2014 they went on a sold-out US tour, where they performed classics like ‘Another One Bites The Dust’ Crazy Little Thing Called Love ‘and’ Radio Gaga ‘. In the beginning of 2015, the band sold out arenas across Europe and in September this year Queen + Adam Lambert were headlining the opening night of the gigantic music festival ‘Rock In Rio’ in Brazil – and the band’s concerts have created great excitement among audiences and critics worldwide.
Rock History’s strongest backlist
40 years ago Queen had their big breakthrough with the song ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ and throughout the period leading up to the death of their iconic lead singer Freddie Mercury in 1991, the band released one rock classic after another, and sold 100 million albums, but interest in the band’s music is still massive. Queen’s music is today among the most downloaded on the music service iTunes – every third household in Britain own the band’s ‘Greatest Hits’ album and songs like ‘We Will Rock You’ and ‘We Are The Champions’ are the most played at sporting events worldwide . Therefore, it is one of rock history’s strongest and most long lasting song catalogues that can be experienced in Jelling Music Festival on Sunday, May 29, 2016.
The only concert in Denmark
“We are very proud to have secured one of the largest and most legendary bands in rock history, Queen + Adam Lambert. It is one of the largest if not the biggest band we have presented at the festival in its 28-year history. The fact that Queen + Adam Lambert have played sold out concerts and festivals around the world in 2015 clearly shows that we are dealing with a world leading name. Queen’s music transcends generations and it’s very hard to think of other artists who have so many great songs that can unite an entire festival site. It is simply a magical concert,” says Lars “Charlie” Mortensen, the festival booker.
The more than 30,000 audience at Jelling Music Festival will be the only one in Denmark that gets the chance to experience the British rock legends. It will be the only Queen + Adam Lambert concert in Denmark in 2016 and the concert at Jelling Music Festival will be only tQueen’s third concert in Denmark ever. The first time was in 1978, and again in 2014, when Queen + Adam Lambert played for a fully packed Jyske Bank BOXEN in Herning, where the concert was sold out within hours.
Adam Lambert’s debut album For Your Entertainment earned him a Grammy Award nomination for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance, and a worldwide smash hit with ‘Whataya Want From Me’. His second album, Trespassing, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard charts. In 2013, Adam appeared as a guest star on the hit TV series, GLEE and as as a featured vocalist on Avicii’s album ’True’.
