Justin Shirley-Smith

Queen Senior Engineer / Co-Producer Justin Shirley-Smith returns for 2016!

Justin will be providing some additional Queen AND Freddie solo tracks on the Queen Studio Experience mixing desk, as well as answering any questions!

Last year Justin was a great hit with party goers in the Mountain Studios room; he happily talked about his time working there, current projects and gave those at the mixing desk a professional helping hand. This year, being Freddie’s 70th and with the release of the Messenger Of The Gods collection, he will be returning with some classic Mercury solo tracks to mix!

Justin started his career at Mountain Studios in 1984 as assistant to David Richards – and then progressed to recording engineer for many artists including Chris Rea, David Bowie, Freddie Mercury, Queen, Robert Plant, Roger Taylor and Tin Machine. This included working on the original Queen album sessions for ‘The Miracle’, ‘Innuendo’ and ‘Made In Heaven’ albums – plus solo sessions such as ‘Strange Frontier’, ‘Shove It’, ‘Mad Bad and Dangerous To Know’ and ‘Barcelona’. From 1991, Justin has been working in UK almost exclusively for Brian May and Queen as their senior engineer/co-producer on Brian’s solo work and numerous Queen projects.

Queen Archivist Greg Brooks has also already been confirmed as a special guest for the evening.
