Brian and Roger appeared on stage at CineEurope in Barcelona on Tuesday, much to the surprise of the gathered industry audience.

‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ Producer Graham King gave a short speech introducing the film (see below), he then introduced Rami Malek who also said a few words about what it meant for him to play Freddie Mercury. Then both Graham and Rami presented a short clip of the film that was put together specifically for the event and attending European film distributors.

After the clip, and an extended applause, Graham brought Brian and Roger onto the stage for a surprise appearance – no one in the audience knew they were coming. The reception for both of them was somewhat thunderous!

Graham King CineEurope Speech

“I’m very excited to be here at CineEurope and present you Bohemian Rhapsody.”

“Firstly, I want to give a huge thank you to Fox and New Regency for believing in this project.”

“What Freddie and Queen did so successfully, and what Queen still does to this day, is bring people together – no matter what age, background or culture. For that one moment, nothing else matters but the music.”

“It was always my goal to transfer that same magic into the cinemas. To create an experience for the audience, like their concerts, where people stomp their feet, sing along, laugh, cry and become completely transported into a different world. I thought that if we could even come close to capturing some of that magic onto the screen, we could have something truly special.”

“I am so honoured and humbled to be a small part of carrying on Queen’s legacy. I am incredibly proud of what “we’ve accomplished and hope you all will feel the same.”

(Introducing Rami Malek)

“I’ve been lucky enough in my career to work with some of the greatest actors. But the performance of this young man playing Freddie Mercury rates up there with some of the best I’ve ever seen. Ladies and gentlemen, I’d like to introduce our Freddie: Rami Malek…”

“Before we finish tonight I would like you to meet two very dear friends of mine. I am so proud and honoured to welcome these two legends. Ladies and gentlemen, M. Brian May and M. Roger Taylor of Queen.”
