EAGLE-eyed fans were quick to spot a very familiar famous face in the TRNSMT crowd at Glasgow Green tonight.

Queen and Adam Lambert kicked off the second weekend of the festival – but punters were more amused with what happening off stage. Paolo Nutini stuns fellow audience members as he shares embrace with Freddie Mercury lookalike

Paolo Nutini stuns fellow audience members as he shares embrace with Freddie Mercury lookalike Scottish pop star Paolo Nutini was spotted bouncing around to the rock legends’ set, joined by none other than a Freddie Mercury lookalike.

The two were caught dancing along to the tunes and even sharing a cuddle – with Paisley-born Nutini decked out in a Juventus top and sunglasses. pint and cigarette in hand.

An onlooker said: “I had to look twice, they made a hilarious pair. It looked like they were having a great night.” The two danced along to Queen’s set.

Tonight saw the second week of the festival get off to a fantastic start. The crowd enjoyed performances by The Temperance Movement, The Darkness and GUN while enjoying the sizzling Glasgow heatwave.

The audience were treated to a set by Texas, who returned to Glasgow especially for the show. But the highlight of the night was definitely the headliners.

Queen superfan Joyce Wells, 63, travelled all from Cumbria especially for the gig. She said: “I’ve been a fan of Queen all my life. I came here to see them for the 12th time. And it’s fair to say they didn’t disappoint.

THE Temperance Movement frontman Phil Campbell revealed he used to pretend to be Freddie Mercury as he hit the TRNSMT Main Stage. The Glasgow-born singer told how excited he was to see the rock legends as Queen headlined the fourth day of TRNSMT.

Phil Campbell revealed Queen were his inspiration as a youngster before he performs alongside the rock legends for TRNSMT Phil said: “I’m looking forward to seeing Queen because I love those songs. I actually got to see a bit of the sound check and they were playing Seven Seas of Rye.

“I love Queen and I used to pretend I was Freddie Mercury.” And the 39-year-old told how excited the band was to be performing at the festival – having jetted over from The Montrose Festival to perform. “I used to pretend I was Freddie Mercury.” Phil said: “I was dead excited from the moment I woke up. We’ve just come back from the Montrose Jazz Festival and we were like, right now it’s TRNSMT. We’ve been excited for this for pure ages.”

And the frontman also revealed how younger fans loved the classic rock sound.

Phil said: “Younger fans come in slowly. We play music which sounds and is inspired by an older form. Most of our fans have maybe seen The Stones while they were playing or saw Led Zeppelin maybe or The Faces. And that’s what we do. That’s the fans that come to us.”

The Temperance Movement kicked off TRNSMT’s second weekend with a bang and proved they’re A Deeper Cut above the rest.

“Fans show up and they’ve brought their boy. It’s not poppy and it’s not current, it’s real and it’s live. It’ll always turn a head.“

The 39-year-old rocked Glasgow Green today as punters basked in scorching temperatures.
