Badger admiring Banksy-style badger image wins hearts in wildlife photo competition Badger admiring Banksy-style badger image

Many of you will have seen this great picture which has worthily won a national photographic competition. But it’s much more than a lovely photograph. It’s a message. And of course I want to post and comment to amplify the message that Ian Wood the photographer has transmitted (please swipe). The disgusting killing of badgers goes on. Those of us who have been doggedly trying to save both the badgers and the cows for over 10 years now know the truth – that the awful killing has failed utterly to help farmers combat bovine TB. Don’t be misled by the present Government’s claim to be stopping the cull. Before becoming Prime Minister, Kier Starmer promised to end the badger cull. But his ministers have not only allowed existing cull licenses to continue but have actually granted new licenses for new culls. It’s an utter betrayal. Our documentary “Brian May : The badgers, the farmers and me” is changing hearts and minds among many farmers, who now increasingly realise that the present government strategy is actually the cause of them still being in severe difficulties with bovine TB in their cattle. But there are many who still believe the myth of the “Wildlife Reservoir infecting their cattle – rather than looking for how the pathogen is transmitted within the herd. It’s noticeable that the only people to objected to our conclusions ( and actually tried to stop its transmission) were those who benefit in some way from the continuation of the present strategy – skin testing and killing badgers. The truth will prevail in the end, as our Gatcombe methods will be proved to solve the problem. But in the meantime our magnificent British badgers are being driven into extinction. THANK YOU IAN for drawing attention to this hideous injustice. BriMany of you will have seen this great picture which has worthily won a national photographic competition.
