Oscars: Stars React to Their Nominations
Rami Malek Actor:
“Bohemian Rhapsody” “[The film] is something we collectively did so much work on and it’s something so thrilling, not just for the acting nomination but for the film to get [a best picture nod] as well is so rewarding. The one thing is, I always wanted this to be a character-driven story that people could relate to. When we went into this, we all agreed [to] focus on the story of this man’s life first and then focus on the music later. When it comes to what Freddie would have thought, Brian May has told me he would be tickled by all of this. May was telling me a story recently where he was on the way to a wedding with his wife and on the way there, saw a poster of the film and thought, ‘this the same route me and Freddie took on the Number 9 double decker bus to talk to our manager about why are music careers hadn’t launched yet,’ and thought how Freddie would love this so much.” [VARIETY]
