QUEEN star Brian May still fears for his health – despite getting the all-clear from cancer. The veteran rocker, 66, underwent a biopsy for prost[r]ate cancer before Christmas but no cancer cells were found.

However, opening up about the experience for the first time, Brian reveals he continues to suffer from mysterious pains – which leave him “baffled”.

He said: “I didn’t feel upset at all and the first thing I felt when I heard the news was numbness. It’s still a bit mystifying though as I’m not totally fine. I still have a lot of problems and pains but we seem to have eliminated all the sinister possible causes. I’m just left slightly baffled and am trying to build up my strength again.”

Brian May and Freddie Mercury Brian, who is working on new Queen material, concedes his cancer scare has given him a different outlook on life.

He said: “I am much more conscious of planning the curtain coming down and planning every day. If you were suddenly told you were going to die in a couple of weeks it would be nice to think that you spent the time the way you wanted to rather than the way everyone was telling you to. In a healthy way it’s good to be aware of your death so that you can get your life in perspective. Freddie Mercury was very focused and had no time to waste, ever! He really did spend the short life he had doing what he wanted to do. It is important to look at every day as a gift.”

Brian is launching the Badger and Cattle Vaccination Initiative that wants animals vaccinated against the spread of bovine TB. The BACVI sponsorship page is at http://www.bacvi.co.uk. All monies raised will go directly to support vaccination schemes.
