Brian attended the first night for new cast members joining the West End production of the Mamma Mia! Musical last night. Here he is with Kerry Ellis and Mazz Murray, who has just joined the show in the party of Tanya.

Queen guitarist Brian May and West End leading lady Kerry Ellis were among guests at the Novello Theatre last night to welcome the new cast of Abba musical Mamma Mia! The new cast includes Mazz Murray (We Will Rock You) as Tanya, Jo Napthine as Rosie, Gabriella Williams as Sophie Sheridan and James Darch as Sky.

Also joining the cast is Louise Young as Ali, Stephanie Fearon as Lisa, Dan Partridge as Pepper and Rory Phelan as Eddie. Dianne Pilkington continues to star as Donna Sheridan, with Richard Trinder as Sam, Alasdair Harvey as Harry and Charles Daish as Bill. At certain performances, the role of Donna Sheridan will be played by Shona White.

Set on a Greek island and featuring the songs of Abba, Mamma Mia! is directed by Phyllida Lloyd and produced by Judy Craymer, who were also the creative forces behind the hit 2008 film adaptation.

The show premiered at the Prince Edward Theatre on 6 April 1999 before transferring to the Prince of Wales Theatre in June 2004. It has been in its current home the Novello since September 2012.

Some new stars are heading into the London production of Mamma Mia! Beginning June 8, Gabriella Williams will make her West End debut as Sophie. Joining her on that day will be Mazz Murray as Tanya, Jo Napthine as Rosie and James Darch as Sky. The ABBA tuner continues to play at the Novello Theatre.

Murray, a member of the vocal group Woman, has appeared in We Will Rock You and Fame in the West End and in the U.K. tours of Rent and Smokey Joe’s Café. Napthine’s previous credits include Made in Dagenham, Urinetown, Sister Act, The Sound of Music and The Woman in White. Darch has appeared on the U.K. stage in Kiss Me Kate and Cats.
