Talk and Meet and Greet

Proud Galleries, in collaboration with the London Stereoscopic Company, introduced a new audience to Stereoscopy with a talk by Sir Brian May and Denis Pellerin on the history of 3D photography, which started in Victorian times.

Brian also delighted his listeners with a story about how his next-door neighbour introduced him to the Stereoscopic Society, which created opportunities for him to make stereoscopic friends around the world.

We saw projected 3D images of Brian with his stereo camera in his early Queen years, along with a picture of Freddie taking a picture of Brian taking a photo.

Dr May explained how the Instagram stereo community grew, after he posted his own 3D images, creating renewed interest in stereoscopy in a younger generation.

Brian and Denis demonstrated how people can easily take stereoscopic images by downloading the i3DSteroid app.

At the Meet and Greet afterwards Brian was keen to talk to the audience about their thoughts on Stereoscopy and chat about how people can get help starting their own 3D photography journey.

Proud Galleries is currently exhibiting a selection of  3D images from Brian’s latest 3D book Stereoscopy Is Good For You, featuring 100 stereo photographers worldwide, until March 25th, with free entry.
